the story.
For over a century, a humble (and undeniably charming) hunting shack sat on this land. The second we laid eyes on its weathered bones, we saw pure potential — not a relic to demolish, but a hidden gem waiting for rebirth.
That little shack had no idea of its next chapter: Sentō, a private forest spa. In Japan, a sentō (銭湯) refers to a traditional public bathhouse — a shared space where people have gathered for centuries to soak, sweat, and find deep relaxation and quiet connection through the simple ritual of bathing. Here, we’ve reimagined that ancient tradition as something intimate and exclusive: your own secluded sentō, where the forest replaces the neighborhood and the only company is the trees, the steam, and your loved ones.
We poured a massive heated foundation, gently lifted the original structure atop it, and wove in a sleek, modern addition with capacity to hold luxuries.
the ritual.
IKI sauna. ColdLife cold plunge. Two-person shower room. Soaking tub. Repeat.
This is the circuit that Nordic and Japanese bathers have perfected over centuries — heat, cold, water, rest. We’ve simply built it in the woods and added a view.
the rest.
A king bed in a dark, quiet room. A gourmet kitchen with everything you’d cook with at home. An open living and dining space looking out at the birch. A relaxation lounge for the in-between. Even the laundry room earns its keep.
Sentō is designed for people who need to stop — not slow down, stop. Nothing here is decorative. Use all of it.
A Finnish IKI heater, cedar-lined walls, tiered benches, and a window looking out at the birch. The kind of dry heat that loosens everything you've been carrying.
Sauna's better half. Cold immersion at a steady, brutal temperature — use it as long as you can stand, then go again.
An expansive shower room built for the bathing ritual — room enough to rinse together between sauna rounds. Dark tile, warm metal, honest plumbing.
Leather chairs, a chess set, and floor-to-ceiling windows onto the forest. The space between rounds — soft, slow, and quiet.
Linen bedding, a down comforter, and a room dark enough to actually sleep in. Rest is part of the ritual.
A deep soaking tub for the long, hot end-of-day soak (the part of the Japanese bath tradition we refuse to skip).
Fully equipped — not an afterthought. Dark cabinetry, warm wood counters, real cookware, a proper coffee setup. Cook in, or don't.
One open room for eating, reading, and falling silent in front of the windows. The forest does most of the work.
Sounds boring. Isn't — when you're staying long enough to need it, you'll be glad it's here.
